Camping Site, Mohraan

Mohraan Farms is a triangular piece of land with streams flowing on all three sides and densely forested with a variety of native flora and fauna. This site is the closest to what we can call an oasis amidst the barren terrain around. Within this natural setting are a couple of young engineers and their families who are natural farmers by passion. With a strong urge to retain, conserve and propagate the flora and fauna on this parcel of land, all of them work along the lines of sustainability to such an extent that they have even left their Mumbai abodes permanently to settle in this natural reserve.

After the construction first two structures constructed for Mohraan i.e., Glory Cottage and Conference Hall, the owners wanted to accommodate more guests in Mohraan. They wanted something quick and on a low budget and hence they came up with the idea of having a camping site.

The area marked for the plinth was around the existing trees and no tree was harmed in the process. Built with free-flowing shapes, the camping plinth provides protection from the wet ground and also prevents other wild creatures from entering the area. The flooring is made of cowdung which feels very warm and soft to walk on. The bathrooms and toilets have mosaic patterns on the walls and floors. One of the roofs of the bathrooms is made of bamboo and the other a RCC roof.
